In 1988 the Usha Martin Group set up a jelly-filled Telecom Cable plant at Ranchi, on the east coast of India in technical collaboration with AEG Kabel, Germany.
Nine years later, in 1997, further expansion and diversification took place. This resulted in the establishment of U M Cables - a fully owned subsidiary that also manufactures Optical Fibre Cables.
During the last few years, the original Usha Martin manufacturing facility at Ranchi (called Usha Beltron Ltd.) has been gradually relocated to Silvassa enabling it to expand with the growth of business.
This state-of-art plant, located at Silvassa, near Mumbai, currently exports more than 30% of its products to more than 30 destinations across the globe and is focused on achieving even more in the future. The present annual turnover is $ US 50 million.
